Josephas Interview mit ihrer Gastfamilie in Kanada

Meine Gastfamilie besteht aus meiner Gastmutter, meinem Gastvater und aus meinen Gastgeschwistern, eine Gastschwester die 16 ist und ein Gastbruder der 13 ist. Ich habe meine Gastfamilie ungefähr einen Monat vor meiner Abreise bekommen. Den ersten Kontakt habe ich über E-Mail aufgenommen und ungefähr zwei Wochen später habe ich das allererste Mal mit meiner Gastfamilie gezoomt. Ich konnte viele Fragen stellen und die Familie vor meiner Abreise gut kennenlernen und wusste so, was auf mich zukommt. In den ersten Tagen war es etwas komisch, aber man muss sich natürlich erstmal eingewöhnen. Danach war es aber normal und ich habe mich schnell wohlgefühlt. Meine Regeln in meiner Gastfamilie sind nur, dass wir respektvoll miteinander reden, immer nach uns aufräumen und ich sagen soll, wo ich hingehe und bei wem ich bin. Gemeinsam haben wir schon viele Ausflüge gemacht, wir waren wandern, haben andere Städte besucht und waren campen. Dort haben sie mir alles ausführlich gezeigt und wir haben viel unternommen. 

Have you already had exchange students stay with you?

Yes, we had three before you came. One from China and two from Japan 

How did you come to the decision to welcome an exchange student into your

family?

So our friends had exchangestudents before and we want to experience new cultures, religions and languages.

Why did you choose me to stay with you?

We didnt get to choose, but we were lucky to get you. 

What was your first impression of me?

You were less shy than our other students and that made it easyer for us to include you more into our family.

Is it hard to welcome a stranger into your family and trust them with your

belongings?

No, because we know that the students we have had are happy to be on an exchange, so they wouldn’t do things that could get them sent home or in trouble. We know that they have put a lot of work into planning and preparing for their exchanges, and we trust that they are going to make an effort to be respectful while with us. 

Will you come and visit me in Germany?

Yes, it would be awesome to get to visit you in Germany. I’ve always wanted to take a trip to Europe, so I’d be able to visit you as well as sightsee and explore. 

What is one word that you use all the time that German students probably

don’t know the meaning of?

Probably the word ´´toonie´´, which is the word that Canadians use for our $2 coin. 

What is the favorite activity you do with your exchange students?

Probably watching movies at the theatre. It’s also a good chance for the students to practice their English listening skills.

Is it hard for you to say goodbye to the exchange students once their stay is over?

It’s always hard, because we spend so much time with them and become very close. We know that we’ll see them again someday, but it might be a while before then.

Do you know any German words/traditions?

I know the word ´´Gesundheit´´ because my friend has said that whenever she sneezes since we were younger.
